I may be missing something, but I think I'm in the same boat. I installed the
server and webUI of 0.8.8-1 on Ubuntu 9.10 using the testing PPA.
When I try logging in with the password I set during the install (and which is
in /etc/webui.rb, I get: "Could not complete logging in."
Checking the /var/log/chef/server-webui.log, I see that this is the first log
message:
~ Failed loading ChefServerWebui (I cannot read /etc/chef/webui.pem, which
you
told me to use to sign requests!)
It can't read it, because it doesn't exist.
I assume I can manually create these certificates using the instructions
here:
http://wiki.opscode.com/display/chef/Manual+Chef+Server+Configuration
After doing so, I don't get the webui.pem related error above, instead, when I
restart the webui, I get:
"~ Failed loading ChefServerWebui (401 "Unauthorized")"
And get the same "Could not complete logging in." message when I try logging
in again with the web UI.
Is there something I should be doing differently?
