[[chef-dev]] 5/24 Opscode Triage

As everyone is aware the Chef and Ohai projects have been regularly
holding weekly triage meetings. This was the first week the Cookbook
project held a triage meeting. We are still in the process of playing
catch up on this project so some of these tickets are quite old! Just
like with the Chef and Ohai projects, we're starting COOK tickets with
a status of resolved. Once we've caught up there we'll move into open
tickets. We hope to work through the backlog in the Cookbook project
over the next few weeks.

The ultimate goal is for all Chef related projects:

* CHEF
* OHAI
* COOK
* KNIFE_EC2
* KNIFE_RACKSPACE
* KNIFE_OPENSTACK
* KNIFE_WINDOWS

to share a similar triage process.

CHEF Project

To fix:
CHEF-2373 - GET /environments/:environment/recipes fails if there is a
cookbook with no available versions

To merge:
CHEF-1838 - Remove dead code from Chef::Runner
CHEF-1887 - Mount provider should not check existence of Fuse devices
CHEF-1890 - include support for SELINUX filesystem labels

Other:
CHEF-1742 - minor glitch in new http_resource HEAD version
Reopened. fix branch missing
CHEF-1756 - bootstrap scripts should set a better $PATH
Fixed by another ticket
CHEF-1789 - Use the first action defined or `default_action` method
sent message to mailing list [0]
CHEF-1814 - closed. not the right solution to the issue... create a
wiki page [1] documenting use cases for the feature, then we can have
proposals.
CHEF-1827 - reopened. need a solution for ppl with older git versions

COOK Project

To merge:
COOK-136 - will merge...need to update `apt_repository` LWRP also
COOK-204 - makes sense. if you aren't using packages the pid file
shouldn't matter to you.
COOK-282 - will merge. Should also be up-factor that into chef like
chef-server-compact-db in the chef-server-api gem
COOK-531 - LWRP for Postgresql Databases

Other:
COOK-58 - Apache start action will end chef run if apache configs are broken
Reopened. simpler fix suggested to author.
COOK-185 - CouchDB edge install from subversion
Reopened. fix branch missing.
COOK-190 - quick_start: cannot override only attribute
Won't fix. old ticket for a cookbook that doesn't exist anymore.
COOK-254 - A cookbook for configuring mac_os_x platform dependencies
Won't fix. great cookbook that should be maintained by the author.
COOK-262 - Apache 2 cookbook: restart fails on RHEL 5 due to bad pid
file location in httpd.conf
Already fixed
COOK-269 - rabbitmq_chef tries to install deb package on ubuntu lucid
Fixed by https://github.com/opscode/cookbooks/commit/1a6cc6
COOK-290 -
Won't fix. deploy resource should be updated to support to support a
:keep_releases like Capistrano. opened CHEF-2374.
COOK-295 - runit supervisor: chef services should inform about dependencies
Won't fix. parent ticket was already marked.
COOK-296 - Running mysql::server recipe does a node.save without
checking if running under chef-solo
Fixed by COOK-526.
COOK-307 - openldap::auth recipe in openldap cookbook fails missing
/etc/ldap/ldap.conf
Reopened - no fix attached
COOK-317 - Support init_style 'upstart' in bootstrap
Reopened - missing fix branch
COOK-334 - prefer an LWRP vs definition. COOK-531 has such an LWRP.
