Chef does not have any native code so it should be pretty easy
https://github.com/opscode/chef.git
gem install rake
cd chef/chef
rake gem
gem install pkg/chef-0.10.9.gem
I believe that 0.10.9 will become 0.10.10 as chef approaches release.
