I'm assuming you mean the URL to the cookbook itself.

Wouldn't this end up being a chicken-and-egg problem though? i.e. how is 
Berkshelf etc. supposed to know what URL to put in the Berksfile without, er, 
going to a URL to get the cookbook?

Other than that, I see it as harmless.
