I've been meaning to ask this for awhile: why is there a "freebsd"
cookbook? Shouldn't Chef handle all FreeBSD-specific features as well
as it does for other supported operating systems?
I can see the use case for an individual or a company to want to have
a specific cookbook to implement things that would take too long to
get integrated into Chef itself. But the port_options LWRP (as well
as any other optimizations/features we have lying around in private
cookbooks) would be better shared via Chef itself, IMHO.
Is there a reason not to try to get these kinds of things integrated into
Chef?
