How can i fix this error?

Chef::Mixin::Template::TemplateError (undefined method `[]' for nil:NilClass)

I'm using:

<%= @localhost["ipaddress"] %> on one of my template and suddenly after 
running chef-client, it stops with the above error.

Please help!
