Not sure if this would be the best thread to ask, but it'd be nice if knife bootstrap on a Red Hat server would create an init.d entry.

I'm also finding that when chef-client is installed on Red Hat boxes, it doesn't continue to check in with the chef server.

I've pushed a quick beta release out. We've still got a couple more
fixes on deck to merge in, so we're not in feature freeze yet. If
there's anything you'd like to get fixed up and into this release, now
is the time. We plan to freeze and ship a release candidate late next
week.

Remember that since this is a prerelease, you have to install using
rubygems and you have to do so with "gem install --pre"
