Also - ideally, what devs want here is something like this:

/home/<user>/buildtools/<tool>/<tool-specific-version>

Then they'd add the version that they need active to their path.  This way, multiple shells can be opened and kept distinctly unique (versus updating alternatives, etc).

Seems like :puts won't let me do that...
