Unfortunately, this can't be the case, since SElinux is turned off. 
We have used the same VM template and same recipes lots of times and as I
mentioned earlier, we never had problems up until a few days back. And nothing
that I can think of that could possibly alter the way chef works has changed.
No updates of ruby, chef, linux version, vm ware platform..
All the same, except that we have more load and more VM's in our
infrastructure...
