Hi there,
I am from Wikidot.com (
http://www.wikidot.com) - the online service that
allows people to set up and run wikis. Actually we are one of the top wiki
providers, mostly for individual users and communities.
Anyway, we have been using Chef since 0.7. in September 2012 we have moved
100% to AWS and now we use Chef to manage up to 40 EC2 instances: database
servers, web servers, workers, Memcached servers -- everything: from
assembling RAID arrays, configure logging, installing numerous software
dependencies to deploying applications and fine tuning configs.
We use Chef in combination with CloudFormation, which works just great. We
include initial DNA in the instance's metadata in JSON.
Since we are a heavy AWS user (and our project is simply cool) we have been
lucky enough and made it to AWS Global Start-Up Challenge semi-finals:

Guys, I wanted to say thanks to Opscode and all Chef contributors. Chef works
great for us and we much more enjoy "programming the infrastructure" than
configuring individual servers.
I would also like to share some of the solutions we use, but need to figure
out how to do it best. If you have any questions about our Chef usage I will
be glad to answer.
Thanks and cheers,
Michal
