You make it sounds like code must be written.   Just to be sure we are on the
same page here,  creating an apache2_redhat cookbook is very easy because it
involves REMOVING code from the existing cookbook rather than adding code.


Yeah, I might have been a bit blunt but that sounds just about right.
There's also SELinux, which I know nothing about… it would make sense to support it, right?

And then the thing about having an abstract apache2 cookbook… without that, what was mentioned earlier in the thread (that other cookbooks depend on the apache2) would still hold.

So it doesn't sound like *a lot* of work, but quite a bit of careful testing.
