On Github (or even on GitLab) you can view markdown just by clicking on "Raw" button

If you want to easily edit a Github Flavoured Markdown file, my favorite editor is SublimeText (http://www.sublimetext.com/2) with Package Control plugin and Extended Markdown package (https://sublime.wbond.net/packages/Markdown%20Extended) installed
