Did you try to ping the host?

$ ping api.opscode.com
PING api.opscode.com (184.106.28.84): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 184.106.28.84: icmp_seq=0 ttl=44 time=593.566 ms
64 bytes from 184.106.28.84: icmp_seq=1 ttl=44 time=704.453 ms
^C
--- api.opscode.com ping statistics ---
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0.0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 593.566/649.010/704.453/55.444 ms

There’s one IP, but you should really try to fix the network/DNS problem. :)

I'm trying to follow the training material, lesson #2, on https://learnchef.opscode.com/ -

So far, I managed to install chef client on a desktop (virtual desktop).  I also created an organization in the hosted chef.

The issue now is that when I tried to perform "fnife client list", I get "ERROR: Network Error: Error connecting to https://api.opscode.com/organizations/chefytp/clients - getaddrinfo:  This is usually a temporary error during hostname resolution and means that the local server did not receive a response from an authoritative server..." (see below).

So perhaps my local DNS cannot resolve this address, is there an IP address that I can try?  Or any other suggestion?  Thanks!
