Thanks Noah, that works all good.

After looking into this I took a step back and upgraded to Berkshelf v3 by updating the Gemfile with:

gem "berkshelf", github: "berkshelf/berkshelf"

Just exploring the newer version of Berkshelf now.

I did need to update the Berksfile with: 

cookbook "mongodb", github: "edelight/chef-mongodb"

Some new commands like "berks vendor" which I'm checking out now as well.
