Hi,
I have been trying to install chef gem through RPM. Now, I understand that I have to change all the dependent gems into RPM first. The problem is that chef depends on multiple versions of some gems like json, chef-zero etc. The thing is I have to do multiple RPM installation for them.
My question is why gems have multiple version dependencies on other gems? Why can't I just install the latest version and it satisfies all the dependencies? Further, is it possible to make some changes, so that all the dependencies are satisfied with the latest version of the gem instead of installing multiple versions?
Thanks,
Peeyush Gupta
