Oops.  That's not quite right.  #1 isn't the case.  I didn't *forget* to
use my list address; I didn't mean to send my message to the list, but
to the sender, but the reply-to munging sabotaged me.  If I wasn't using
this "one address for mailing lists and another for mailing people
directly" scheme, then my "Hey, it looks like you meant to send a
private message but instead sent it to every subscriber," message would,
itself, have been sent to every subscriber.

I hope the managers of this list will consider disabling this option.
