- Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2014 12:42:44 -0700
Hi Chefs,
I have an open RFC,
https://github.com/opscode/chef-rfc/pull/20
Briefly,
This proposal describes an enhancement to chef server that allows uploads of
cookbooks that are identified by arbitrary IDs. This feature supports the
ChefDK policyfile feature, where we intend to identify cookbooks by a SHA-1
hash of the content. This allows users to safely publish cookbook changes
without updating the cookbook's version number if they choose to do so (some
reasons why users might want to do this are enumerated in the proposal)
It’s been open for a week and we seem to have reached consensus among the
people who have commented so far. I’m reposting in case anyone has missed it
that would like to comment. If nothing comes up, I’ll be moving to have this
accepted/merged soon.
Thanks,
