Hi Yoshi,

The second RC was built late Friday, and I will be sending out an email today with the details of what has been updated. Pending any further feedback from the community and our customers, we plan to have the final release out by the end of this week.

Cheers!

Ohai Chefs!

Chef Server 12.1.0-rc.1 is now available for download - the blog post has download details [1].  Additional blog coverage will be available for the final release, but here are some of the highlights:

* significant performance improvements in erchef around postgres usage
* policyfile APIs now enabled by default, and existing organizations will be upgraded to make it available to them.
* server API v1 is now available and v0 is deprecated
* postgresql security updates
* JRE v8 upgrade
* solr 4.9 upgrade

For more details, you can also take a look at the release notes [2] and changelog [3].

Please make sure to follow the standard upgrade procedure for Chef Server[4]. If you are coming from Open Source Chef Server or Enterprise Chef Server, ensure that you are first running the latest version before upgrading.

We're looking forward to getting your feedback on this RC.  If you encounter any problems, please open an issue against the chef-server repository on github [5].

Thank you!
