SLES is a tier two platform (via 
https://github.com/chef/chef-rfc/blob/master/rfc021-platform-support-policy.md),
 meaning it is supported for installs but the packages are the same as (I 
think) RHEL. I think it has been raised before that this not made clear by 
the download page, but only Chef Software Inc can fix that.
