I forgot to mention. using “compat_resource” cookbook, chef-docker 2.0.0 works back to chef-client 12.0.0. 

Also, the resources are fully backwards compatible with 1.x, so recipes written against 1.x will Just Work

That's what 10 miles of ChefSpec and full integration testing buys you =)
