Hi, I use Gentoo and I wanted to try Chef, so I made some quick 
gems.eclass-based ebuilds for chef, chef-server, ohai, stomp, and 
stompserver. I packaged them into an overlay named 'chef', and am 
uploading it here. It requires the use of the ruby overlay for some of the 
dependencies. I hope this helps with the per-distro packaging task!
