You need a newer version of gecode, which we provide on apt.opscode.com. I know gecode does require a newish version of gcc, so I don't know how easy it will be to get it going on lenny. Here's what we distribute:

We have a 'lucid-0.10' repository on apt.opscode.com. It currently has all the dependencies, but not the Chef packages. We're in the middle of making a gecode package that doesn't require QT, then working on the Chef debs.

We should finish up by the end of the week.
