[chef] RE: Re: Couch database growing.. Can't compact

Thanks AJ, that was it...   I thought the couchdb daemon had to be running to 
support chef-server.   Anyway, restarting it soved the problem 
(momentarily)..   I just need to find out why it crashes..

It looks like it crashes right after issuing the compact  command..
  # service couchdb status
       couchdb dead but subsys locked

Nothing in var/log/couchdb/couch.log or /var/log/messages about the process 
dying.
