Another wrinkle ... for grins i fired up the old 0.10.4 API server and
kicked off an index rebuild. Now i see

127.0.0.1 -  -  [18/Apr/2012:00:09:54 +0000] "POST /solr/update
HTTP/1.1" 200 148

in the logs and all my nodes are showing up in search again.
I don't want to keep this 0.10.4 API server running though, I'm
wondering if i need to change the solr_url for 0.10.8?
