[chef] Question about mysql-server

I am trying to install mysql-server on a centos 5.8 server.

I have been trying to use the community mysql cookbook to create a mysql database. The issue is that the root password I specify is never set because the only_if condition fails.

Any one else seeing the same issue, any work around?
