Hello Fellow Chefs!
Just wanted to let you know that all of the upgrades mentioned below have
been successfully completed.
Clearing your browser's cache or restarting your browser should likely be
your first bit to troubleshooting if you notice anything odd while using
either http://tickets.opscode.com or http://wiki.opscode.com. You know,
the classic "Have you tried turning it off and on again?" [0]
troubleshooting step that's served many in IT so well over the years.
Feel free to drop me a line at
if you have additional
questions.
Thanks,

As we wind down 2012, we are planning some maintenance and upgrades to the
Atlassian products we use to manage our open-source projects.
These upgrades will happen during three separate maintenance windows.
Login Service Maintenance
-------------------------
During this maintenance window, we will be upgrading the Authentication
Service. Logins to wiki.opscode.com and tickets.opscode.com will not work.
This maintenance is scheduled to last for two hours beginning at 0700 UTC
on Thursday, December 20 [0].
Ticket Maintenance
------------------
During this maintenance window, we will be upgrading the Jira instance at
http://tickets.opscode.com. This site will be unavailable during the
upgrade. The maintenance is scheduled to last for two hours beginning at
0300 UTC on Saturday, December 22 [1].
Wiki Maintenance
----------------
During this maintenance window, we will be upgrading the wiki at
http://wiki.opscode.com. This site will be unavailable during the upgrade.
The maintenance is scheduled to last for three hours beginning at 2300 UTC
on Wednesday, December 26 [2].
FAQs

Q. The times you've listed are in UTC, what time does that translate to in
my time zone?
A. See the "Links" section at the bottom of this email for links that will
show the times in your local time zone.
Q. Will I be able to access tickets.opscode.com and wiki.opscode.com
during the login service maintenance?
A. Yes, both systems will be available for reading. However, you will not
be able to login or make any updates while the login service is being
upgraded.
Q. Will I be able to access tickets.opscode.com during its maintenance
window?
A. No, the site will be fully unavailable during the maintenance window.
Q. Will I be able to access wiki.opscode.com during its maintenance window?
A. No, the site will be fully unavailable during thew maintenance window.
However,
http://docs.opscode.com will be available throughout the entire
maintenance window.
Q. I keep the Wiki's resources page open all day long, how am I going to
get any work done?!
A. Have no fear! You'll find what you need on the new docs site. Now
might be a good time to update your bookmark to
Q. What are the actual upgrades you're making?
A. Many of you may be familiar with Atlassian's product suite. We are
upgrading Jira from 4.x to 5.x and Confluence from 3.x to 4.x. Crowd is
also being upgraded but this is just a minor upgrade.
Q. What changes with these upgrades?
A. The most noticeable change is the removal of the wiki markup editor.
You are probably used to using the wiki markup and getting comfortable
with the new rich-text editor might take some time. We appreciate
your frustration with the change and are still getting used to the
changes ourselves. You can read more about the reasoning behind removing
the wiki markup editor in this Atlassian blog post [3].
Q. Where can I get more information?
