You're right about the tons of questions on how to use wrapper cookbooks. Not sure if a generator would help, but I'm adding your message to my list of topics where Chef should offer better guidance.

It would be really helpful if there was a tool in chefdk such as knife cookbook-wrap  

This would take the name of the cookbook, pick all the "please override attributes" and make it super-simple for people to set up metadata and define the attributes most commonly overridden using the right syntax.

Is there one?
