[chef] Howto - chef-vault and chef-splunk?

Hi,

Sorry that this might be a kind of broad/vague question, but some of the 
recipes in the chef-splunk cookbook 
(https://github.com/chef-cookbooks/chef-splunk) like the "server" recipe, 
require that something be set up in another cookbook, chef-vault, but I've 
been reading the information there (both on the chef-splunk and on the 
chef-vault pages) and it's not clear to me exactly what needs to be done?

Can someone explain what I need to do to get that part setup?
