Personally, I think that as long as the job is directly chef related, it is relevant and I am okay with the content.  Obviously we all don't want to see a bunch of junk for "work from home and make millions" types of offers.  Since the mailing list is limited to registers users who are in some way interested in chef, and a part of the community, it makes sense to disclose related openings to it members.  IMHO

You raise a good question.  I don't believe we have anything in our guidelines around the mailing list that prevent job postings.  It is true that they are very rare.

This is a mailing list is by and for the Chef community.  People, like you and me, make up this community and will determine and define what is and is not appropriate on our mailing list.

As you may know, we are in the process of migrating our mailing list to Discourse <https://github.com/chef/chef-rfc/blob/master/rfc028-mailing-list-migration.md> which will make it easier for the community to share job openings in a way that's easier to consume.

I hope that answers your question and look forward to continued dialogue and opinions on this.

Thanks!

i am surprised to see a job listing here. does this mean other people can start posting jobs as well? or is chef (the company) special?
