[chef] knife ec2 instance create --user-data (HELP!)

Hi all

I asked on IRC but there seems to be a flood of chat about the new version of chef ATM.

I'm trying to follow the datastax launch guide:

http://www.datastax.com/docs/1.2/install/install_ami

This guide follows along using the actual ec2 console, not chef.  I'm trying to replicate this where they specify "user data" is "raw text" - is there a way to do this same thing with the --user-data <file> option to the ec2 plugin?

Any examples?
