[chef] Opscode Hosted Chef: Scheduled Maintenance Time Change

Hi,

We typically don't use this list for Hosted Chef announcements; however,
we want to ensure that as many Hosted Chef users as possible are aware
of the upcoming scheduled maintenance.

On Wednesday, 8 May 2013 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM PDT, Hosted Chef will
be down for maintenance. This is eight (8) hours later that the
previously announced time. During this time, the Hosted Chef API will
be completely unavailable.

We consider changes to planned maintenance windows seriously and
apologize for any inconvenience this change causes.

We will use this window to deploy opscode-bifrost, a new backend for
Hosted Chef’s authorization service. Testing shows that this new
backend outperforms the existing backend in terms of latency and
scalability. We will also be finishing maintenance related to a
previous hardware failure during this window.

As this will be an extended outage of the API, we will provide
reminders in advance of the migration and updates throughout the
downtime.
