Windows nodes take a huge amount of space in solr and cause a lot of issues with search in Chef. In general if you run open source chef server and Windows hosts you need to increase the maximum object size in solr or the Windows nodes will disappear from search.

However, when i run chef-client on the nagios server, its not populating the hosts file at all. I was just able to add some new servers yesterday but today I'm seeing this very strange issue.
