Windows nodes take a huge amount of space in solr and cause a lot of issues with search in Chef.  In general if you run open source chef server and Windows hosts you need to increase the maximum object size in solr or the Windows nodes will disappear from search.

So all of a sudden, not know what changed. When I add a new windows host with the appropriate roles, it adds it to the chef server .. i also see it under knife node list….

However, when i run chef-client on the nagios server, its not populating the hosts file at all. I was just able to add some new servers yesterday but today I'm seeing this very strange issue.
