Speaking only for myself, I'm going to be doing a tutorial on Chef at the
FLOSS UK 2012 conference in March. I feel that I am pretty familiar with the
content on the site, and I have an idea of what kinds of basic things I want
to cover before I start ushering people towards the pool. However, if there
were more experienced chefs who wanted to provide their own
suggestions/thoughts on what they felt was important to have covered, then I
would welcome that input.
This tutorial is not intended to take the place of the multi-day classes that
Opscode gives, but instead to give people just enough information to get
started, and give them some hands-on experience with some parts of the
process. With luck, they'll be able to get to the point where they can begin
using Chef in earnest on some of their systems, and they'll be able to
continue to pull themselves up by their bootstraps -- with the support of the
rest of the Chef community, of course.
If you want to see my take on how this should be approached, my abstract can
be found at <
http://www.flossuk.org/Events/Spring2012/Tutorial>.
