Ok,I'll keep the abandoned way of managed node for this I think (I've some others tooling like IBM svc and brocade San switches I would like to manage through chef too, so managed node sounds the way to go for this edge case)

I assume you're talking about the OS/400 PASE?

Currently we don't have any plans on the roadmap to support OS/400 PASE binaries, even though the AIX Chef Client is compiled with IBM XL C/C++. I suspect that the required pointer alignment special-handling would make Ruby a non-starter.

(the try of chef client on os400 is in my to-do list for a while but I've less freedom on this system, may it worth an effort from me to free time for it or am I the only one wishing to drive os400 systems with chef ?)
